RYA Powerboat Level 2
Take your basic powerboating skills to the next level with our RYA Powerboat Level 2 (Powerboat Handling) course.
The equivalent of a driving licence for the water, this 2 day course is the minimum requirement needed to hire a boat or participate as a powerboat driver for activities like diving or water skiing. So if you fancy enjoying the thrill of flying across the water with confidence, this course is for you. No previous boating experience is required.
Course Highlights

Boat Handling

- Effects of current or tide
- High and low speed manoeuvring
- Propeller control
- Anchoring
- Man overboard
- Use of kill cord
- Steering controls, securing to a buoy
- Leaving and coming alongside
- Being towed
- Basic knowledge of GPS
Theory and Background
- Types of craft and engines
- Weather
- Maintenance checks
- Emergency action
- IRPCS (International Regulations to Prevent Collision at Sea)
- Ropework
- Awareness of other water users
* Under 16’s need to be accompanied by an adult
* Students under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate
